I started my MSc in fall 2023 after completing my BSc in Integrated Science at McMaster University. My research involves using sequencing to identify microbial communities, including bacteria, archaea, and fungi, across various permafrost landscapes in the Northwest Territories. My project also has applications to astrobiology as the Arctic can be used as an analog for Mars. Permafrost deposits where we find higher quantities of microbial life in the Arctic can be used to help predict areas more likely to find life on Mars.
